This was a performance that closed the last DDI Drum Day Intensive. At that time, modus factor’s bassist, artist, personality, irreplaceable genius Ian DeSouza was away in India, so who to get on bass? modus factor is all about being YOURSELF through your instrument, becoming a strong unmistakable personality that blends with the team, so this couldn’t just be any excellent bass player. I like the word OUTSTANDING, as ‘someone who stands out’, and that’s Brad Cheeseman. We performed ‘Brownian Motion’ (from the album ‘The Picasso Zone’ on Browntasauras Records) and it felt awesome to play this with Brad, who brought his own ideas and vibe to the song.
modus factor is strong on improvisation and being in the moment, so whomever plays in the band will leave their mark on the song… we are definitely not a ‘jukebox’ type band, playing the same version of the song over and over. The performance was a really cool version of this song that went into ‘blue ocean’ unknown territory, from a roar to a whisper and back. Check it out, enjoy it, share it, and connect with us!
